IN A GREAT BIG ROOM IN A GREAT BIG ROOM

TUMBLEWEEDS

I have a longtime fascination with tumbleweeds. I just think they are beautiful.  It never occurred to me that I might want some in my home, until I began working with Creative Capital in New York years ago and would go to meetings occasionally at the Andy Warhol Foundation. In their conference room (aside from the amazing Warhols hanging on the walls!), there is a long wooden table with 4 or 5 tumbleweeds on it.  Despite the prospect of a long meeting, I always loved seeing them.  So I knew, that when I went to Marfa, I would definitely grab a few of my own.  Unfortunately, though, I didn’t think through how I would get them home with me to Chicago, so my huge tumbleweeds are now in boxes in my parents’ garage, but maybe at some point I’ll manage to ship or drive them here.  In the meantime, maybe I need one of these amazing tumbleweed lamps created by Jean Landry, like the one I saw hanging in the window of Tienda M in Marfa.
